Good Environmental Choice Award for Hebel®

CSR Panel Systems  has announced its Hebel^® aerated autoclaved concrete (AAC) products and systems have met the requirements of the Australian Good Environmental Choice Program, and been awarded the Good Environmental Choice Label.

The Good Environmental Choice Label is the only third party, internationally recognised life-cycle based environmental certification in Australia. The Australian Good Environmental Choice Label is awarded to those products or services which meet and/or exceed life-cycle environmental performance benchmarks specified within the relevant Good Environmental Choice Standard.

Following a comprehensive assessment against the GECA 8-2006 – Environmentally Innovative Products Standard, the following Hebel^® AAC products and systems were awarded the Australian Eco-Label:

• Hebel^® PowerBlock™
• Hebel^® PowerFloor™
• Hebel^® PowerPanel
• Hebel^® PowerWall™
• Hebel^® SoundBarrier
• Hebel^® PowerFence™

The assessment undertaken by GECA found that the Hebel^® AAC range has significantly reduced environmental loads of at least 30% in comparison to competitor products on the Australian market which serve the same functional purpose. These findings were found for both the embodied energy of external Hebel panels in comparison to brick veneer and concrete wall systems and for insulation benefits during the in-use phase resulting in reduced greenhouse gas emissions for all key products.

Mr Petar Johnson, Chairman of GECA stated that, “Hebel^® products and systems have clear environmental performance benefits compared to most other widely used products in the construction industry in Australia. We expect to see a growing demand for this product line as more architects, builders and construction firms grapple with the environmental performance of their designs.
